What happens after submission of your visa application
Monitoring the progress of your application
You must wait until the Embassy makes a decision on your case after submitting your application.
This process will take two to three weeks, depending on nationality (for additional information, please visit the Processing Time page on the Visa Types section), and assuming a complete file is filed. However, in other circumstances, it may take longer.
You can follow your application by entering the reference number on your receipt, which you will receive on the day of your appointment. If you have selected the SMS service, you will be updated of the status of your application via SMS and email. The final SMS you will receive will notify you when the application has been approved.
Obtaining your passport
Monday through Friday, between 16:00 and 17:30 p.m., excluding statutory holidays. Please bring your receipt, an extra photocopy of the passport bio data page (picture page), and a copy of the signature page (if the applicant's signature is not on the passport bio data page) with you.
Applicants who are unable to collect the passport in person may authorise another individual to do so on their behalf. The authorised person must present a photocopy of the applicant's passport with the stapled receipt, an authorisation letter signed by the applicant (an example of an authorisation letter can be found here), and evidence of identity with a photo.
At the completion of the passport collection procedure, VFS demands that each collecting individual sign the Register of Passport Collection.
Applicants are urged to double-check that the visa granted corresponds to their travel plans when they pick up their passports.
Courier delivery of your passport
If you chose the Courier Service, your passport will be delivered to you using DX Securemail.
You will be able to monitor your DX Securemail envelope the day after you are told that it has been shipped from the Visa Application Centre. To trace your envelope, please use the ten-digit number from the DX Securemail sticker on your receipt. Please visit DX Securemail's website.
